Michael Thompson the creator of SplinterBike a bicycle made entirely out of wood has announced the time and date for his teams land speed record attempt.
The event is set to take place from 12pm on 18th August 2011 at Quibell Park Velodrome, Scunthorpe. Michael’s friend and triathlete James Tully has taken up the challenge and will ride the bike on this momentous day.
Michael is busy preparing everything for the task ahead and is now building a second SplinterBike as a back up just in case anything should happen on the big day.
The Anvil Tool Company is the official tool sponsor to the SplinterBike project and we will be there cheering them on.
It’s not too late for you to get involved, you can have your name added to the long list of sponsors on the side of the bike from only £5.00.
It doesn’t end there as the Victoria & Albert Museum wants the Splinter Bike to be included in an exhibition entitled “Power of Making” which will be starting in September 2011.
The team is also hoping to raise money for their chosen charity Shelterbox along the way.
Good Luck Boys, we’ll be cheering you on…
